Introduction

  • Sampling of gases (high pressure, acid gas & liquid Sulphur etc.) from Mesaieed Operation facilities / stations.
  • Carrying out physical and chemical tests on finished products or at intermediate stage and incoming feed streams, also on chemicals (DIPA, MDEA, etc.) used in the process.
  • Adhering to international standard methods like ASTM, UOP, IP, SMS, HACH, LOVIBOND, SNEA, etc.

What are you going to do

  • Collecting samples using proper sampling techniques and observing safety procedures, wearing B.A. set if the situation demands it. Sampling of high- pressure liquids, acid gas, Sulphur, C2 rich gases, should be done with the help of the Operator.
  • Should notify Shift Foreman if anything wrong with the existing sampling point so that it can be modified or rectified. Similarly, the bombs in use also should be under observation for any leakage or damaged valves and should be reported to the Shift Foreman.
  • Disposal of samples should be done using proper safety precautions, i.e., gloves, safety goggles, face shields and safety shoes.
  • Analyzing hydrocarbons in gas or liquid, liquefied gas products like C3, C4 and Condensate streams at various process stages – incoming feed, intermediate stage or finished product. Carries out analysis on LPG shipments, NGL condensate, NF condensate and Arab-‘D’ condensate shipment with the assistance and supervision of the Shift Foreman Involves sample collection / analysis with bombs, flasks, gas scrubbers, titration apparatus, MV meter, distillation unit, valve freeze unit, Lab X- 3500, Tracor Atlas and GC. Tests involving strong smelling hydrocarbons and escaping toxic gases, should be carried out in fume cabinet only.
  • Analysis of acid gas and tail gas should be done along with another Lab Technician
    • never alone, as it involves high concentration of H2S (45%) and CO2 (55%).
  • Analysis of sample of chemicals used during the treatment steps of LPG streams or offshore feed streams, Kontol, Servo, DIPA (lean, rich, tank), MDEA (lean, rich, tank) and Glycol by using various instruments i.e. Metrohm titroprocessors, PH meter, spectrophotometer, titration apparatus, KF, and GC etc.
  • Analyses utility samples from desalination plant, boiler, and boiler-feed water samples lube oil, seal oil samples, instrument air compressor. Equipment used are Lovibond comparator, PH conductivity meter, hydrometer, Metrohm 702 titrino, viscometers, Shaw moisture meter, Hach & spectrophotometer.
  • Knows all procedures involving preparation of standard reagents and solutions used in the tests – prepares them whenever necessary. Notifies the Shift Foreman whenever reagents, chemicals, glassware spares in use are on the verge of getting
  • exhausted.
  • Follows good housekeeping rules, sticking to safety precautions. Informs the Shift Foreman if there is any abnormality in results or with the instruments so that proper action can be taken, or the test can be repeated or rechecked.
  • Carries out similar analysis involving visits to locations like Dukhan, Ras Abu Fontas, TD stations, TO Tank Farms, etc.
  • Carry out the inventory of chemicals, glassware, GC spares, Dragger tubes. Etc. to ensure minimum quantities are available in lab.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly statistical lab report.
  • To carry out any other job given by supervisor related to lab activities.
  • Check equipment/Instruments cleanliness and conditions before carrying out any analysis.
  • Entering data into LIMS system.
  • Communicate with operations for sampling and analysis related concerns.
  • Report data to operation without delay.
  • Responsible for instruments/equipment minor maintenance and calibration
