Introduction

We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Officer to join a global mining company on a 6-month Perth CBD based contract. This role is key in ensuring the efficient procurement and expediting of goods and services to support operations. Working Monday to Friday in a dynamic team environment, you'll engage with suppliers, manage cost-effective purchasing, and contribute to supply chain efficiency, with potential for extension based on operational needs.

What are you going to do 

Reporting to the Purchasing Supervisor, this role is responsible for managing the procurement process for the Customer Group, including the purchase and expediting of goods and services essential to the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procure and expedite materials, parts, supplies, equipment, and services in accordance with established purchasing policies, optimising cost, delivery, and terms
  • Identify reliable and cost-effective suppliers, issue requests for quotations (RFQs), and leverage supplier capabilities
  • Assist in analysing commercial benefit initiatives related to capital projects, maintenance programs, and operational expenditures
  • Ensure all materials and services are ordered and received as per specifications
  • Verify accurate costing of materials to maintain financial control
  • Consistently meet customer requirements by delivering effective purchasing services and solutions

Essential skills and knowledge 

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a commercial purchasing or procurement role, within the mining and resources sector
  • In-depth knowledge of materials and inventory management, as well as services procurement, including understanding of commercial and legal terms
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a procurement team
  • Strong expertise in purchase-to-pay processes and logistics, coupled with experience in sourcing both goods and services
  • SAP experience and ability to manage procurement software effectively
  • Highly adaptable with the ability to manage multiple complex tasks involving financial and operational risk
  • Full Australian Working Rights
  • Ability to produce a national police clearance within six months and attend a pre-employment medical
