Introduction

Brunel is working closely with a global power company who is looking to ramp up it's Asutralian operation. They are seeking a financial controller to oversee the financial management of one of it's key renewables assets in Victoria. This role offers the opportunity to be a key business partner to the overall business while focussing your attention on one of the largest energy assets of it's type.

What are you going to do 

As the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for the overall financial management of a key renewable asset. You will oversee all aspects of finance, including accounting, financial reporting, taxation, treasury, financing, insurance, and financial planning & analysis. Your role is crucial in ensuring robust financial controls, compliance, and strategic financial planning to support the company's growth and operational efficiency.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Education: University degree in Accounting, Finance, and/or Business Administration. A professional qualification (CFA, CMA, CA, ACCA) is essential. A Master's degree in Finance and/or Business Administration is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 15 years of experience in financial management, with at least 5 years in a similar position. Experience with a Big 4 accounting firm in Audit, Tax, and Assurance is highly desirable.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with Australian corporate and tax laws, local GAAP, and IFRS. Experience with market-leading ERP systems (preferably Oracle).Professional Skills: Superior analytical and synthesis skills, strong communication and interpersonal abilities, and excellent negotiation skills. Ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
  • Personal Attributes: High standards of professional conduct, ethics, and integrity. A self-starter with a "can do" mentality, strong drive, and determination to achieve results. Adaptability to fast-moving, changing environments and cultural differences.
