Introduction

Brunel is seeking an experienced Asset Development Engineer to join a leading energy company. This role is integral to integrating and managing Non-Technical Risk (NTR) activities, including tenures & permits, environment, noise, cultural heritage, land access, social performance, and commercial considerations.

About this role

  • Progress sanctioned and pre-sanctioned project scopes through the Upstream Delivery Process (UDP) while ensuring adherence to regulatory and operational requirements.
  • Conduct Non-Technical Risk (NTR) functional reviews, optimizing well locations and gathering alignments to minimize late-stage changes and HSSE risks.
  • Manage multiple project activities, including field surveys, environmental permitting, GIS mapping, engineering design, and landholder negotiations.
  • Identify and mitigate technical, non-technical, and constructability constraints, ensuring efficient project execution while minimizing cost and production impact.
  • Collaborate with regulatory, engineering, and project teams to ensure compliance with all relevant approvals and environmental guidelines.
  • Support Project Change Requests (PCRs) by integrating input from multiple stakeholders to optimize project scope while maintaining execution efficiency.
  • Engage closely with Land Access, Cultural Heritage, Environmental, Well Engineering, and Gathering Construction teams to drive project success.
  • Provide proactive issue resolution and scenario planning to mitigate potential delays and enhance project delivery outcomes.

Is this you?

Experience & Skills:

  • Proven experience in asset engineering, project coordination, or planning within the oil & gas, energy, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong understanding of Non-Technical Risk (NTR), environmental regulations, land access processes, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with a strong focus on project planning and execution.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Familiarity with Upstream Delivery Process (UDP) (highly regarded but not essential).

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in engineering, environmental science, project management, or a related field
  • Australian working rights - candidates must have full working rights to be considered.
  • Previous experience in land access, permitting, and regulatory compliance is highly desirable.
