Saint-Nazaire Offshore Wind Farm Project Overview

The Saint-Nazaire Offshore Wind Farm will consist of 80 (Siemens SWT-7.0-154 7MW) offshore wind turbines with a unit capacity of 6 megawatts (MW) for a total capacity of 480 MW. The SWT-7.0-154MW wind turbine has a rotor diameter of 154m and a swept area of 18,600m². The rotor of the turbine is fitted with Siemens B75 blade. The planned production is equivalent to covering the equivalent of 20% of the electricity consumption of the Loire-Atlantique.

This Euro (€) 2bn project is being developed as a part of the French government’s aim to increase renewable energy’s share in consumption to 32% by 2030.

The Saint-Nazaire Wind Farm will be situated on the bench of Guérande, Loire-Atlantique in Brittany in western France approximately 12km offshore from the coastline with the wind turbines being installed at depths between 12m and 25m on monopole foundations.
