Job Title: Process Safety Engineer

Location: Point Celeste, Plaquemines Parish, LA

Employment Type: Direct Hire

Our Client, a leading provider of liquefied natural gas (LNG), is seeking a Process Safety Engineer to join their team at a state-of-the-art facility in Point Celeste, LA. As a key player in the global demand for North American natural gas, our client is committed to fostering clean, reliable energy production. This role will report to the Manager of Process Safety and will be critical in ensuring safe, efficient, and effective operations across their cutting-edge plant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and manage various elements of process safety management, including Management of Change (MOC), Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR), and Process Hazard Assessments (PHA).
  • Communicate and manage process safety risks, supporting the development of safety protocols and solutions.
  • Provide day-to-day support for Process Safety Barrier Health reporting and metrics monitoring.
  • Participate in PHAs and Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA) assessments, managing associated action items.
  • Assist in process safety event investigations and drive the development of preventive measures.
  • Contribute to the following areas:
  • Car sealing and safety-critical procedures
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and initial startup processes
  • Permit to Work, SIMOPs, and management of inhibits/bypasses
  • Safety Critical Element management and process safety metrics analysis
  • Continuously monitor and assess process safety performance, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.

Essential skills and knowledge 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Process, or Mechanical Engineering (other engineering disciplines considered based on experience).
  • 3-5 years of experience working in a process plant environment is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of process safety fundamentals and demonstrated experience in safety-critical roles.
  • Must hold and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card in good standing.
