This role requires FIFO from Perth, based in the Pilbara region. We offer a competitive compensation package commensurate with your experience level and an 8/6 days roster.

What are you going to do 

Reporting to the Water Services Superintendent,you will play a central role in developing, implementing, and reviewing dewatering plans aligned with operational mine plans. This position requires strong communication, time management, and technical skills to ensure timely completion of robust hydrogeological assessments, vital for effective business communication.

  • Review quarterly mine plans to develop monthly operational dewatering and water supply plans, monitoring progress using reports, water level interpretation, and operational water balances
  • Provide technical hydrogeological guidance and support to operational departments regarding mine water management and compliance with Environmental and Water Licence obligations
  • Drive improvement projects and collaborate on their execution, focusing on operational benefits and stakeholder satisfaction
  • Contribute to mine planning efforts related to dewatering, water supply, and depressurisation initiatives
  • Assist in compiling End of Month data and KPI reporting for Management
  • Manage water monitoring data collection, QA/QC processes, and database (Envirosys) management
  • Foster collaborative relationships with internal departments and external stakeholders to enhance knowledge, scope development, system evolution, and risk awareness in water management decision-making processes

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering Geology, Hydrogeology, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Ability to obtain a full Western Australian Driver's Licence.
  • Ability to consistently pass drug and alcohol testing.
  • Current national police clearance, issued within the last 6 months.
  • Previous experience working in a rural environment will be highly regarded.
  • Self-learner, proactive in seeking opportunities for process improvement and innovation within a dynamic team environment.
  • Effective communication, time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Relevant applied experience in Hydrogeology, preferably within the mining industry, including knowledge of open pit dewatering, water supply, reinjection, sumping, pit flood response, and tailings operations.
  • Competent use of hydrogeological software packages for analyzing pumping data and developing water interpretations (e.g., ArcGIS, Envirosys, PowerBI, AQTESOLV, etc.).
  • Ability to take initiative, work autonomously, and as part of a team to achieve project milestones.
  • Experience or knowledge of the Land Use Certificate management and approvals process or equivalent within the industry.
  • High understanding and awareness of occupational health and safety practices.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and zero harm principles.
