Introduction

As an HD Mechanic for Brunel, you will play a crucial role in the operation of mine sites in the Pilbara. This exciting opportunity allows you to contribute to the maintenance and repair of a diverse fleet of mobile equipment, including Trucks and Autonomous mining equipment. This position demands a high level of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety.

What are you going to do 

As an HD Mechanic for the Mobile Maintenance department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of heavy mobile equipment in the Pilbara. This exciting opportunity allows you to contribute to the maintenance and repair of a diverse fleet of mobile equipment, including Trucks and Autonomous mining equipment, while collaborating with a dedicated team. This position demands a high level of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety. Experience working in a fast-paced environment is essential, along with excellent communication skills to facilitate effective collaboration within the team.

Duties:

  • Maintain large-scale Mobile Mining Equipment, with a preference for CAT 793 experience AND OR Liebherr experience
  • Perform diagnostics and fault-finding to ensure optimal performance and reliability of equipment
  • Execute workshop and pit duties as required, contributing to overall operational efficiency
  • Collaborate effectively with all mobile maintenance teams to achieve 100% schedule compliance and seamless operation of mining activities
  • Adhere to all Fortescue and site operational procedures and policies
  • Conduct inspections and repairs on electrical systems while following established procedures and safety protocols to ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with the team to integrate mechanical maintenance and repairs into overall operations

Essential skills and knowledge 

Requirements:

  • Recognized mechanical trade certificate in Australia (Heavy Duty Fitter or Diesel Mechanic for
  • Heavy Mobile Equipment)
  • Valid Driver's License (Minimum C Class but HR is highly desirable)
  • Refrigerant Handling License
  • High-Risk Work License (Forklift, Working Platforms)
  • Working at Heights certification
  • Previous experience working in the mining industry
  • Experience with mobile plant equipment, including autonomous trucks
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety
  • Full Australian Working Rights
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and zero harm
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
