Job Title: Control Room Operator

Location: Midland, TX

Contract Type: W2 Long-Term Contract

Schedule: Rotating 7/7 schedule (Thursday to Wednesday) with alternating day and night shifts. Night shifts typically occur once every 1.5 months.

Position Overview

The Control Room Operator will actively monitor our Client's upstream assets, ensuring safety and optimal performance. This role supports production operations by prioritizing tasks, addressing abnormal operating conditions, and coordinating logistical activities. With a wide range of responsibilities, the Control Room Operator must remain adaptable to evolving operational strategies and ensure efficient and safe execution of tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the central point of contact for all field operations.
  • Act as a liaison among various field teams during emergencies, abnormal operating conditions, and activation of the Incident Command System.
  • Maintain basic knowledge of production, completions, workover, and drilling operations.
  • Perform surveillance of onshore assets and conduct root cause analysis using systems like Cygnet and Foresite.
  • Monitor production facilities and wells, prioritize pumping schedules, and respond to alarms.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize well performance using remote controls for auto-chokes and automated equipment.
  • Dispatch Lease Operators to sites and direct oil trucks as needed.
  • Input and track maintenance work orders, following up until issues are resolved.
  • Communicate effectively with field personnel and provide daily updates to stakeholders through Teams and reports.
  • Coordinate third-party trucking services for the delivery or disposal of fluids and other logistical needs.
  • Organize services for various field teams, including construction, drilling, and completions.
  • Develop and distribute reports using tools like Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, and Power BI.
  • Monitor in-field camera systems and ensure safety and efficiency at field locations.
  • Schedule crude oil pickups and maintain proper tank levels.

Desired Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of production processing equipment and well optimization.
  • Experience with downhole and BHA equipment, artificial lift systems, and automated controls.
  • Proficiency with SCADA systems and well surveillance programs such as LOWIS, XSPOC, or Foresite.
  • Knowledge of oilfield logistics and enhanced oil recovery (EOR) processes.
  • Experience operating compression systems.

Essential skills and knowledge 

Minimum Skills

  • Basic understanding of production equipment and artificial lift systems.
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems and water recycling/disposal processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work a 12-hour rotating schedule and remain seated for prolonged periods.

Experience Requirements

  • 2-5 years of experience in roles such as Lease Operator, Automation Technician, Production Technician, or Control Room Operator.

Preferred: 5-10 years of experience in similar roles.
