Introduction

  • Assist the Engineering Department in reviewing, updating, and applying standards and amendments to external standards.
  • Provide essential support in coordinating and executing technical services to ensure timely delivery in line with project requirements.
  • Conduct various technical calculations, including Fiber Optic Link Budget, Data and Telephony Traffic Analysis, Capacity/Bandwidth Analysis, Public Address Sound Pressure Level, and Telecom Equipment Power Consumption and Heat Load.
  • Method Statement Review:
    • Review and approve method statements developed by contracted organizations to ensure scope compliance.
    • Liaise with contractors to address and resolve technical issues effectively.
  • Scheduling and Monitoring:
    • Develop, update, and monitor schedules for in-house engineering activities.
    • Contribute to external scheduling activities and ensure effective project delivery.
  • Service Operation and Control:
    • Oversee the operation and control of Telecommunication services, whether on-premises or cloud-based, to meet business requirements.
    • Support the management of services to ensure continuous and reliable performance.
  • Service Preparation and Change Management:
    • Prepare for new or modified services, managing the change process to ensure smooth transitions and minimal disruptions.
    • Assist in the documentation and communication of changes to relevant stakeholders.
  • Standards and Compliance:
    • Maintain adherence to regulatory, legal, security, and professional standards.
    • Support efforts to uphold high standards of practice and compliance within the Telecom department.

What are you going to do 

  • Technical Standards and Codes:
    • Support the identification and application of relevant engineering standards and codes specific to Telecommunication Engineering and Operations.
    • Assist in ensuring compliance with standards and external regulations throughout project phases.
  • System Operation and Control:
    • Operate and monitor installed and virtual Telecommunication system hardware and software.
    • Perform routine checks and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Infrastructure Management Tools:
    • Utilize Telecommunication infrastructure management tools to streamline provisioning, testing, deployment, and monitoring of system components.
    • Assist in the configuration and automation of infrastructure processes to enhance efficiency.
  • System Design and Specifications:
    • Aid in producing preliminary Telecommunication system designs and specifications, encompassing objectives, scope, features, facilities, management, reliability, resilience, security, constraints (e.g., performance, resources, cost), hardware, network and software environments.
    • Contribute to documenting main system functions, information flows, traffic volumes, data loads, and implementation strategies, including development phasing and alternative solutions.
  • Lifecycle Management:
    • Participate in all stages of the lifecycle for Telecommunication software/hardware and transmission media development, including investigation, analysis, specification, design, construction, testing, maintenance, upgrade, and migration.
    • Support the documentation and tracking of lifecycle progress and deliverables.
  • Platform and Network Utilization:
    • Engage with various Telecommunication hardware and software platforms, including both local and wide area networks, to provide comprehensive support and troubleshooting.
  • Operational Expertise:
    • Offer technical support to ensure correct application of operational procedures and best practices.
    • Assist in the resolution of technical issues and deviations from established guidelines.
  • Compliance and Assurance:
    • Ensure adherence to technical assurance practices, engineering standards, and environmental and safety policies in all activities.
    • Review and address deviations from approved guidelines, codes, standards, and practices.
  • Engineering Activities and Surveys:
    • Support Telecommunication Engineering activities and in-house site surveys from initial concept through engineering studies, FEED, detailed design, pre-commissioning, and commissioning phases.
    • Assist in coordinating and executing survey tasks to gather necessary data for project planning.
  • Design Coordination:
    • Assist in coordinating engineering designs and reviewing multi-disciplinary work scopes for clarity and comprehensiveness.
    • Support the development of detailed work scopes and project documentation.
  • Tool Configuration:
    • Help configure tools for the automation of provisioning, testing, and deployment of new and modified Telecommunication system infrastructure.
    • Ensure tools are properly set up and functioning to support project needs.
  • Installation and Maintenance:
    • Contribute to the planning and execution of Telecommunication system installations and maintenance activities.
    • Assist in building and configuring infrastructure components in both physical and virtualized environments.
  • Change Implementation:
    • Implement agreed infrastructure changes and maintenance routines using appropriate tools and test equipment.
    • Support the monitoring and documentation of changes to ensure successful implementation.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Diploma / HND
  • Relevant disciplines certificates
  • 7 years of relevant experience in oil and gas/petrochemical industry
