Introduction

Brunel is currently searching for a Quarry Manager for direct hire with our client located in Colorado Springs, CO.

What are you going to do 

Our new Quarry Manager report directly to the Aggregate Manager and will be responsible for managing the daily quarry mining operations which include plant production, plant maintenance, recording data, scheduling and problem solving. Current team is 20 people strong.

Primary duties include:

  • Communicates mining activities to the Aggregate Manager daily.
  • Manages equipment and plant maintenance procedures and costs.
  • Plant Production - keeping inventory on the ground and in spec (approx. 1M ton annually).
  • Maintaining the production plant so it operations at it's max and in safe condition.
  • Task training for all employees for all tasks.
  • Recording production and downtime.
  • Scheduling for production, maintenance, stripping and blasting.
  • Managing environmental safety policies for all employees, MSHA trained and enforceable.
  • Purchasing parts and suppliers needed.
  • Maintains and measures quality products and processes.
  • Monitors standard of the product specifications for commercial and state applications.
  • Responsible to understand and implement mine plan.
  • Create, maintain and enforce consistent policies and procedures at site.

Essential skills and knowledge 

Requirements:

  • Degree in Mining or Civil Engineering Preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Experience in mining, industrial or construction setting.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in an industrial or construction environment with supervisory experience.
  • Excellent people skills to successfully work with aggregate mining management, external customers and operational personnel.
  • Ability to train, support and coordinate personnel in a multi-functional operation.
  • Knowledge of MSHA safety and environmental regulation and ability to implement the appropriate related programs and controls.
  • Mechanical aptitude for mining and processing equipment
  • Operation excellence and/or Lean experience preferred.
  • Previous leadership experience or management training program.
  • Must be will and able to be stand-alone manager at site.
  • Computer skills including MS Office products.
  • Ability to understand financial data.
  • Must have mine planning experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal format individually and in group settings.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. for any employer without sponsorship.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds. Walk, stand, sit for extended periods of time. Occasional pushing, pulling and/or prying. Good visual acuity, depth perception and hand-eye coordination. Works in outdoor environment with noise and temperature variations.

Offer:

Position offers a competitive salary based on experience and education ranging from $90-130K. Position offers a discretionary bonus up to 20%, full benefits and company truck for work and personal use.
