Introduction

We are seeking experienced oil and gas rig personnel ideally based in South East Queensland and South Australia to work with a globally recognised company.
This will be a contract based role for upcoming drilling activity in the Surat and Cooper Basins, commencing immediately on a 2x2 roster.

What are you going to do 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparation to run the drill string
  • Examine and maintain of drill floor equipment
  • Assist in tubular tripping operations
  • Assist in preparation to run and cement casing
  • Prepare and operate pipe handling equipment as necessary for tripping, making connections, well testing and logging
  • Assist in nippling up choke and kill lines
  • Maintain a high standard of rig house keeping
  • Recognise the mud mixing system
  • Know signals and safe working procedures for operation of man riding and air hoists
  • Recognise the operation of the storage area and hopper system
  • Know lock-out and tagging procedures for equipment maintenance
  • Know well control procedures as detailed for Floorhands
  • Carry out fire team duties as directed
  • Assist in first aid and medevac procedures
  • Have a thorough knowledge of rig emergency signals and procedures
  • Report any unsafe condition or practice at once to your Supervisor

Essential skills and knowledge 

Requirements:

  • Certificate II or III in Drilling-Oil/Gas (Mandatory)
  • Wellsite permit to work (or willing to obtain)
  • Physically capable of sustained manual labour
  • Must be capable of working skillfully and safely as a member of the drilling team
  • Rig certificates ie first aid, confined space, Breathing apparatus, working at heights (Brunel can assist)
  • The ability to work long hours and in extreme conditions
  • A general knowledge of machinery is considered to be an asset
