What are you going to do 

Role Summary/Purpose

The Offshore Chemist will report directly to the Account Manager. As an Offshore Chemist, you'll handle all offshore production chemical programs and undertake hydrocarbon, water and gas sampling. You will deal with customer requirements in a professional manner to deliver the highest levels of service, safety and compliance.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Monitoring all offshore production chemical programs to assess the impact on production, integrity and environmental parameters
  • Performing ongoing optimization of production chemical programs and undertake hydrocarbon, water and gas sampling for routine laboratory analysis following approved procedures
  • Performing laboratory analysis of hydrocarbon, water and gas samples following approved procedures
  • Maintaining laboratory equipment, record keeping, and managing site inventories of production and laboratory chemicals
  • Assisting with troubleshooting and diagnosis of production upsets and issues. Undertaking chemical field trials as required contribution to overall production
  • Liaising with field Operational personnel to communicate daily tasks and progress status of longer-term activities
  • Prepare daily/monthly production chemistry reports as required
  • Implement and follow the company and client's safety policy and procedures

Essential skills and knowledge 

Requirements:

  • Be qualified as a laboratory chemist (degree, diploma or equivalent industry experience)
  • Have minimum 3 years of experience in oil and gas or similar process chemistry position (preferred)
  • Have proficient knowledge of application of production chemicals (preferred)
  • Have understanding of production processes and systems from downhole to pipeline distribution
  • Have proficient use of computer-based programs related to application of products
  • Have ability to work and communicate well with others
  • Have good focus on all aspects of HSE
  • Have authority to work in Australia
  • Be based in Perth, Western Australia
  • Have clean Australian Driver's License (manual vehicle)
