Our client is a leading global energy and petrochemical company who are searching for an experienced Safety Advisor to join their team in Melbourne CBD/Offshore.

What are you going to do 

We have a current opportunity for a Safety Advisor on a contract basis. The position will be based in Melbourne CBD with offshore travel required. For further information about this position please apply.

The Safety Advisor will provide crucial safety and health support to our clients site leadership team and the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) Contractor's organization. The role extends to other Safety, Security, Health, and Environmental (SSHE) aspects, ensuring compliance and promoting a safe working environment across all operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of the Safety Management System to help meet safety objectives.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining safety processes related to risk assessment, safety training, asset integrity, safe operations, contractor safety, emergency preparedness, and incident investigations.
  • Conduct field inspections of onshore and offshore oil/gas facilities, project construction sites, drilling rigs, and support facilities, including identifying safety concerns and formulating effective corrective actions.
  • Participate in various safety studies and activities, such as PHAs, HAZOPs, JSAs, incident investigations, compliance reviews, and insurance surveys.

Essential skills and knowledge 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in construction safety-related positions, including oil and gas.
  • In-depth knowledge of security processes and procedures.
  • Proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office programs.
  • Fluent in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
  • Experience working in multicultural/multilingual environments is advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel/live away from home for extended periods of time.
  • Proven ability to deliver excellence in SSHE performance and develop successful internal and external relationships.
  • Physically fit to handle the demands of a construction field environment (e.g. walking on uneven surfaces, climbing ladders, standing for extended periods).
  • Capable of working in harsh environments (e.g. extreme temperatures, remote locations) with changing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks with an understanding of company processes.
  • Position is estimated to be 50% office based and 50% offshore travel. Weekend travel may be required.

Benefits:

  • Whilst in office, timing is Mon - Fri 8 hrs, whilst offshore is up to 12 hrs.
  • $857 p/d incl super for office days and an offshore rate will be applicable.
