Introduction

This is a pivotal role within a major maritime program, where you will lead a team of logistics professionals and oversee the development of integrated support systems aligned with engineering and project requirements. This is more than just a technical leadership role-it's an opportunity to contribute to a high-profile, long-term program of national importance.

What are you going to do 

Reporting to the Head of Engineering & ILS, you'll take ownership of all logistics engineering deliverables, ensuring alignment with the Functional Performance Specifications (FPS) and Provisional Operating Support Intent (POSI). You'll manage key artefacts, integrate cross-functional inputs, and maintain a strong focus on delivery, governance, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of logistics engineers, officers, and contractors across Australia and internationally.
  • Oversee technical outputs, including SSSPECs, UUPs, and LCC documents, ensuring compliance with defence standards.
  • Conduct detailed analyses, such as FMECA, RCM, and LORA, to support logistics strategies.
  • Drive collaboration across engineering, training, and technical documentation teams.
  • Track performance and risk, ensuring projects stay on time and within scope.
  • Champion continuous improvement, optimising tools, processes, and supportability strategies.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Reliability, or Engineering Logistics.
  • At least 7 years' experience in logistics or reliability engineering in complex project environments.
  • Proven team leadership experience, with strong people management skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication capabilities.
  • Sound understanding of marine systems, shipbuilding, or defence platforms.
  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and using logistics analysis tools.
