Introduction

We are seeking for a Financial Controller for a client in the Food sector. This role is responsible for overseeing all accounting operations and ensuring accurate financial records. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Financial Controller manages AR & AP, implements internal controls to protect company assets, and ensures financial operations are streamlined for efficiency. The role also involves preparing financial statements and support daily financial functions.

What are you going to do 

  • Oversee daily accounting activities, including accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR).
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and completion of month-end processes.
  • Develop and enforce accounting policies and procedures to comply with regulations and maintain internal controls.
  • Prepare and coordinate internal and external financial statements.
  • Manage and guide the accounting team, ensuring smooth operations and meeting deadlines.
  • Conduct audits to verify the accuracy of financial data.
  • Reconcile discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
  • Ensure compliance with tax laws and assist in tax filings.
  • Work with external auditors and manage the audit process.
  • Monitor cash flow for operational liquidity.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends and areas for cost savings.
  • Present financial reports to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Develop relationships with banks and other financial institutions.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
  • Lead ERP system integration to optimize accounting processes.
  • Collaborate with IT and other teams to ensure systems meet financial reporting needs.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure accounting effectiveness and recommend improvements.
  • Manage vendor relations to ensure timely payments and resolve discrepancies.
  • Streamline procurement processes to improve efficiency and secure cost-effective agreements.
  • Ability to travel occasionally as per business need.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field.
  • CPA designation or progress towards completion preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, ideally with Food or other related industries.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP standards.
  • Experience with accounting software and ERP systems.
  • Intermediate skills in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Proven ability to develop and monitor KPIs.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills for strategic decision-making.
  • Adaptable, resourceful, and committed to continuous learning.
