Introduction

Brunel is working closely with an energy retail looking for a dynamic Senior Finance Advisor to join their team in supporting the energy transition. You will play a key finance role in supporting the growth of the retail and EV business units. This is a high-impact, commercially oriented role where you will collaborate closely with the Commercial team and interface with Trading to manage risk exposures in the National Electricity Market (NEM).

What are you going to do 

  • Lead the financial tracking and forecasting of revenues, gross margins, and unit margins for retail and EV businesses.
  • Provide strategic commercial finance support for the launch and expansion of Electric Vehicle (EV) products.
  • Oversee and review electricity and gas cash flow models in collaboration with the Commercial team.
  • Act as the primary interface with the Trading team, managing risk exposures in wholesale electricity and gas markets.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to drive pricing decisions, product development, and M&A opportunities.
  • Ensure financial compliance through internal controls and reporting, utilizing tools like Power BI and SAP Business Warehouse.
  • Manage carbon accounting and carbon certificate portfolio.
  • Influence decision-making processes with senior management on key business growth initiatives.

Essential skills and knowledge 

Requirements:

  • You are an experienced finance professional with extensive real-world knowledge of wholesale derivatives and have a strong background in energy markets, particularly in the National Electricity Market (NEM).
  • You possess strong commercial acumen and the ability to work collaboratively with commercial and operational teams.
  • You have a proven track record of working in finance roles within energy trading, retail, or commodities markets, and understand the nuances of market dynamics.
  • Your relationship-building and influencing skills are exceptional, allowing you to partner effectively with senior stakeholders and subject matter experts.
  • You hold a relevant tertiary degree and a professional finance qualification (e.g., CA, CPA, CIMA, ACCA).
