Introduction

The succesful candidate will be responsible for the management of import, export permits and any documents required to import/export products. Liaise with customs brokers, shipping agents and relevant authorities to ensure all requirements are met to clear products in a timely manner.

Job Functions

  • Ensure compliance with all laws and regulation governing the importation, storage, labelling and supply of chemicals (hazardous and dangerous), biochemicals, biologicals, radioactives and other controlled or regulated products for the Australian and New Zealand territories
  • Ensure compliance with any industry specific Codes of Conduct covering the importation, storage and sale of controlled product.
  • Be responsible for the management day to day compliance queues and ensure that permits are in place before overseas orders are placed. Monitor SAP queues for scheduled products and only release products for purchasing and subsequent sale once all relevant permits are obtained.
  • Ensure SAP material master data is up to date for all regulated products and ensure that products requiring import or export permits are identified.
  • Prepare reports for Authorities as requested, maintain records of scheduled products as required
  • Build relationships with relevant authorities in Australia and New Zealand and globally to keep up to date on developments and to ensure continued efficiency, effectiveness and compliance in Australia's operation.
  • Ensure licences and permits are maintained, renewed in advance of expiry to prevent delays in imports.
  • Process customers' orders and apply for import, export permits or licences as required. Liaise with customers as required, process customer notifications, questionnaires etc. Daily management of ANZ compliance mailbox.
  • Support our Customs Brokers by assessing consignments for import and export and providing accurate documentation in a timely manner
  • Maintain SAP material master data for all regulated products and ensure that products requiring import or export permits are identified. Ensure in collaboration with the Compliance Manager that all products are ordered in strict compliance to all regulatory requirements and that required compliance flags and queues are set up.
  • Assist in weekly/monthly reporting, includes number of releases/screening in SAP, permits processed for metrics.
  • Custom Clearance/ Customs broker queries as required for business continuity.

Essential skills and knowledge 

Requirements:

  • Tertiary education in Science, Post graduate business studies (chemistry/biologicals advantageous)
  • An understanding of regulatory bodies including TGA, DAFF
  • Excellent communication skills, orally and written
  • Ability to think strategically and develop and implement strategies and initiatives
  • Team working and people influencing skills across departments
  • Attention to detail
