Introduction

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Power Commercial Operations Manager to join Australia's largest energy infrastructure business on a permanent, full-time basis in Brisbane, QLD.

What are you going to do 

This role is responsible for overseeing the commercial operations of power assets, including gas management, contract administration, invoicing, and regulatory compliance. Working across a diverse portfolio, you will support both conventional and renewable energy assets.

  • Lead and manage a newly established team of seven, providing direction, coaching, and support.
  • Develop and implement new procedures, processes, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure operational efficiency and compliance.
  • Oversee daily gas management activities, including nominations for Gas Transportation Agreements (GTAs) and Gas Supply Agreements (GSAs).
  • Ensure contract administration aligns with commercial and regulatory obligations.
  • Deliver daily energy forecasts and demand reports to power customers.
  • Monitor electricity market interface systems to maintain compliance across both conventional and renewable energy markets.
  • Manage invoicing processes, ensuring accuracy and timely issuance.
  • Work closely with operations teams to ensure seamless coordination between commercial strategy and asset operations.
  • Respond to operational events impacting power generation assets, gas management, and renewable energy operations.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Proven experience in commercial operations within the energy infrastructure sector (conventional and/or renewable energy).
  • Strong understanding of energy asset operations, including power generation, gas transportation, and market operations.
  • Ability to effectively liaise with operational teams, ensuring commercial strategies align with asset performance and operational requirements.
  • Tertiary qualification or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Strong leadership experience, with a track record of successfully building and managing teams.
  • Excellent commercial acumen, particularly in contract administration, gas market operations, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, particularly in high-pressure situations.
  • Experience in developing and implementing processes, procedures, and SOPs.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, both internally and externally.
