Brunel is seeking an Unconventional Buying Specialist to work in Spring, TX for initially 1 year contract.
This role supports procurement and supply chain management by executing commercial strategies through the request for quotation process, managing purchase orders, and supporting invoice troubleshooting.
The position focuses on categories such as PVFF/MRO, Sand, Chemicals, and Rotating Equipment within the Upstream Unconventional business unit.
Responsibilities:
  • Request and validate vendor setup in procurement and accounting systems
  • Form, issue, and administer purchase orders and change orders valued between $10k-$100k+
  • Facilitate and analyze quotations for business units as needed
  • Assist in resolving account payables issues tied to purchase orders
  • Conduct simple commercial negotiations and review basic terms and conditions
  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure smooth procurement operations
Interfaces:
  • Procurement: Unconventional Procurement Managers, Category Managers, Supply Chain Operations
  • Business Line/Others: Unconventional Business Unit, Requisitioners, Supply Chain/Material Coordinators
  • Legal and Finance departments
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or related field (preferred)
  • Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree

Essential skills and knowledge 

Experience & Skills:
  • 1-5 years of experience in procurement, contract drafting (with legal support), materials management, and administration of change orders
  • Knowledge of supply chain, inventory, planning, and scheduling
  • Oil and gas industry experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Oracle/SAP, OpenInvoice, and Power BI
  • Strong understanding of the full Source-to-Pay process
  • Strong negotiation skills and customer service orientation
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work with minimal supervision in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and work effectively in a collaborative setting
  • Willingness to work overtime and/or be on call, if required
