Mariana's Story & Experience with Brunel Global Mobility Services

Q: Mariana, can you introduce yourself and share how long you’ve been with Brunel?

Mariana: My name is Mariana, and I’ve been a recruiter at Brunel for 3 years.

Q: When did you relocate to Houston, and where did you move from?

Mariana: I relocated to Houston in July 2024 from Brazil.

Q: How did the move happen? Did you raise your hand, or were you offered a relocation?

Mariana: I had conversations about a possible relocation since I started with Brunel. I had the chance to showcase my work, and by the end of last year, I was offered the opportunity to relocate.

Q: Tell me about the move itself. How did you feel about starting fresh in a new country?

Mariana: I was excited but also anxious. Moving to a new country is a big change, but I’m really thankful for the support from the entire team, which made the process smoother.

Q: What was your impression of the Houston office, the team, and the location?

Mariana: My first impression was amazing! They decorated my desk on my first day, and everyone was really welcoming.

Q: How has Brunel supported your growth since you joined? Can you provide specific examples?

Mariana: Brunel has been very supportive from the start, especially during my relocation. They allowed me to get involved in the US recruitment market and develop myself in this area while I was still in Brazil.

Q: In what ways has working with the Brunel team in the United States widened your perspective of Brunel as a global organization?

Mariana: Being in the US has widened my perspective on Brunel’s global presence. The company connects me with people from all over the world and helps me build deeper relationships with local clients and candidates.

Q: What do you like most about working in energy recruitment?

Mariana: I love being able to help people find roles that make them happy and fulfilled while also helping clients find the perfect fit for their teams.

Q: Tell me about the sorts of roles you typically recruit for.

Mariana: I typically recruit for roles in Engineering, Project Controls, Procurement, and HSE.

Q: Can you share a memorable moment or a particular success story from your time in Houston that stands out to you?

Mariana: Since I’ve only been here a month, my most memorable moment so far was my first day. It was great seeing the team again, and the warm welcome made it even better.

Q: How has your family adjusted to your move?

Mariana: I moved with my husband and our little dog. My husband is really excited about this new chapter and the international exposure he’s gaining.

Q: What are some major culture shocks you’ve encountered in Houston?

Mariana: The biggest culture shock has been the food and the famous "Texas-size" portions, as well as the great quality of life here.

Q: What advice would you give new recruiters or job seekers looking to enter the energy space?

Mariana: My advice is to focus on your development. And if you're looking to enter the energy space, check out the roles I’m recruiting for—I might be able to help!

Q: What advice would you give to an energy company on the fence about working with a recruitment partner?

Mariana: I’d recommend contacting Brunel. We have a vast pool of energy candidates and are ready to assist with any hiring needs!
