Introduction

We are currently hiring a Maintenance Supervisor to join their team. They are a leading protein manufacturing company in Newfoundland and Labrador, where innovation meets tradition in delivering top-quality protein products. The purpose of this position is to ensure daily plant operations are safe, effective, efficient, and continuously improving. This role involves some office work, like completing paperwork and making calls, with occasional trips off-site to meet with suppliers.

What are you going to do 

  • Oversee daily tasks of the maintenance team, including training, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Provide technical support for machine and equipment repairs.
  • Ensure the preventive maintenance program runs smoothly.
  • Manage departmental budgets and make sure they are followed.
  • Ensure workplace safety and food safety procedures are followed by all employees.
  • Lead weekly maintenance meetings.
  • Review performance metrics and make improvements when needed.
  • Supervise outside contractors on specific projects.
  • Help plan and oversee new machine installations and building renovations.
  • Suggest equipment or layout changes to boost product quality or productivity.
  • Order supplies for daily maintenance needs.
  • Approve overtime and track employee hours.
  • Handle other related tasks as needed.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Completed a post-secondary Engineering/Technology program or certified as a Journeyperson Millwright or Electrician.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in food processing, manufacturing, or a similar industry.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Excellent team building and performance management abilities.
  • Experience in a unionized environment is a bonus.

After successfully making through the phone interview, a face to face interview will be scheduled between the candidate and recruiter. This session can be a more in-depth  interview to review your communication and interpersonal skills.
