Introduction

We are seeking an experienced Laboratory Technician to join a high-performing team supporting a tier-one global mining client. This is a 12-month contract role, requiring 38 hours per week (Monday - Friday). The position offers flexible start times, giving you the opportunity to manage your schedule while maintaining a solid work-life balance. Candidates must be based in Victoria and have the ability to travel to Bundoora for work.

What are you going to do 

As a Laboratory Technician, you will be working in a small team of 2-3 technicians, supporting multiple departments. Your primary focus will be sample preparation of mineral samples, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and efficiency. The work is highly repetitive and requires strong attention to detail to produce polished sample blocks within designated timeframes. Full training will be provided, as this is a specialised field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work safely and in accordance with our client's procedures and guidelines
  • Prepare mineral samples with care, accuracy, and efficiency
  • Cross-check and verify sample numbers to ensure precision
  • Manage multiple batches of samples while working across different departments
  • Maintain a neat and tidy laboratory space to avoid cross-contamination
  • Handle small samples (some less than 0.1g) with precision
  • Work both independently and collaboratively in a small team environment
  • Assist in other laboratory areas as needed during quieter period

Essential skills and knowledge 

Requirements:

  • Proven laboratory experience in mining industry
  • Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques (beneficial)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision
  • Ability to follow structured procedures and maintain consistency
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Current VIC Full Driver's Licence
  • Ability to provide a National Police Check (NPC) within 28 days of application
  • Full Australian Working Rights
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and zero harm
