Introduction

We are seeking an experienced Geoscientist to join a leading global mining client on a 6-month contract. This role will involve leveraging your expertise in mine geology to perform essential technical duties with minimal supervision. You will contribute to the efficiency of mining operations by providing vital geological insights and supporting key activities across various mine geology functions.

What are you going to do 

We are seeking an experienced Geoscientist to join a high-performing team in Mine Geology. This is a FIFO role based out Pilbara with an 8/6 roster. You will leverage your technical expertise in mine geology to execute standard duties independently with minimal supervision, contributing to the smooth and efficient operation of mining activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work safely and in accordance with client procedures and guidelines
  • Oversee the collection of grade/quality control samples and geological mapping
  • Organise and compile data into geological information management systems
  • Prepare grade control and geology reports for distribution to production and technical teams
  • Support the planning and execution of resource infill and grade/quality control drilling programs
  • Assist in compiling and analyzing data for mine reconciliation reports
  • Provide first-line supervision for mine personnel and support geological sampling and drilling activities
  • Maintain compliance with client standards for resources, reserves, and reconciliation

Essential skills and knowledge 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • Proven experience in similar role, in a geology-related field, with exposure to exploration and resource drilling activities
  • Strong communication skills for collaboration with operational staff
  • Ability to follow structured procedures and maintain consistency in work
  • Strong technical communication skills, both written and verbal
  • First Aid Certificate
  • 4WD Certificate
  • Current WA Manual Driver's Licence
  • Ability to provide a National Police Check (NPC)
  • Full Australian Working Rights
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
