Introduction

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior/Intermediate Estimator to join our client's team, supporting a variety of mining projects. This role focuses on CapEx estimating and cost control within the mining sector, offering an excellent opportunity to develop skills in a dynamic and supportive environment. With a strong emphasis on growth and collaboration, this position provides exposure to projects of varying scale and complexity.

What are you going to do 

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive CapEx estimates, including all classifications (Class 1-5) and components such as permitting, design, labor, insurance, and contingencies.
  • Collaborate with project teams to support financial reporting, fundraising, and overall cost control processes.
  • Analyze and incorporate risks, contingencies, and productivity factors into CapEx models.
  • Utilize advanced Excel skills to create and manage detailed estimation models and project analyses.
  • Work on a variety of mining projects, ranging from large-scale developments to smaller initiatives, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
  • Partner with existing estimators and cross-functional project teams to achieve project goals.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • 2-5 years of experience in estimating, preferably within the mining industry.
  • Familiarity with AACE standards and CapEx estimating principles, including classifications, risks, productivity, growth, and contingencies.
  • Proven ability to handle significant scopes within large-scale projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with additional software knowledge being an asset.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills to work effectively within diverse project teams.

After successfully making through the phone interview, a face to face interview will be scheduled between the candidate and recruiter. This session can be a more in-depth  interview to review your communication and interpersonal skills.
