Introduction

Brunel Papua New Guinea is currently seeking an experienced Senior Metallurgist to join our team up in Papua New Guinea. This is a 3 year term opportunity - FIFO Roster 21/14 days. The Senior Metallurgist will be responsible for overseeing the metallurgical processes and operations at our client's mining site in PNG. The successful candidate will work closely with the operations team to ensure that the metallurgical plant is operating efficiently and effectively, while also identifying areas for improvement.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical expertise and support to the site operations team
  • Developing and implementing metallurgical process improvements
  • Ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations
  • Conducting metallurgical test work and analysis
  • Managing and leading a team of metallurgical professionals

About this role

Requirements

The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in metallurgical operations
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement metallurgical process improvements
  • Experience in the mining industry, preferably in PNG
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a remote location and in a multi-cultural environment
