Are you an experienced AI professional looking to apply your expertise in power and gas trading? We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior AI Researcher to join the AI for Trading Team within our clients Information and Digital Technology (IDT) department.

About this role

About the RoleAs a Senior AI Researcher, you will work closely with teams in Europe and Australia, developing cutting-edge machine learning solutions for power and gas trading. Sitting on the trading floor in Brisbane, this role acts as a key interface between the AI for Trading team, IDT, and the power trading business.

This position offers flexibility in regular business hours, with an expectation of two evening meetings per week (6-8pm) to collaborate with colleagues in Europe.

Key Responsibilities

Translate complex business challenges into AI-driven solutions.
Design, implement, and deploy advanced machine learning models for power and gas trading.
Operationalize and enhance existing AI models.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to integrate AI models into business operations.
Effectively communicate AI concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Stay up to date with the latest advancements in AI and machine learning.
Work collaboratively in an Agile environment.

Is this you?

About You

STEM degree (Bachelor's required, Master's preferred) in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or Operations Research.
Strong experience in developing and deploying machine learning models in Python.
Demonstrated knowledge of predictive modeling for financial time-series forecasting.
Hands-on experience across the entire AI project lifecycle, from ideation to deployment.
Experience working with tools such as VS Code, GitHub, Conda, Databricks (Azure).
Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with stakeholders.
Experience in the Australian power and gas markets (desirable).
