Introduction

Our client is a leading player in the mining sector, committed to sustainability and decarbonisation. They are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead and oversee projects that drive carbon reduction initiatives across mining and rail operations.

About this role

Role:

  • Lead Projects: Manage all phases, ensuring alignment with sustainability, budget, and timeline goals.

  • Drive Decarbonisation: Implement carbon reduction strategies across mining and rail.

  • Engage Stakeholders: Collaborate with teams, clients, and regulators to meet sustainability targets.

  • Manage Risks: Identify and mitigate environmental, budget, and technical risks.

  • Lead Teams: Guide cross-functional teams to meet project milestones.

  • Control Budgets & Schedules: Oversee resources and ensure timely delivery.

  • Report on Sustainability: Provide updates on progress, carbon metrics, and impacts.

  • Ensure Compliance: Maintain adherence to decarbonisation regulations.

  • Promote Innovation: Integrate cutting-edge technologies and practices.

  • Drive Improvement: Lead initiatives to enhance future project efficiency.

Is this you?

Requirements:

  • Extensive expereince in project management, with a focus on mining, rail, or decarbonisation projects.
  • Proven success managing large-scale projects, preferably in mining, energy, or transport sectors, with sustainability focus.
  • Strong ability to lead, motivate, and mentor project teams, ensuring high stakeholder engagement.
  • Deep understanding of mining operations, rail systems, and decarbonisation technologies.
  • Advanced project management (planning, budgeting, scheduling), excellent communication and problem-solving, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of global decarbonisation goals and green tech in mining and transport.
  • Familiarity with carbon emission and sustainability regulations in mining and rail.
  • Experience with project management and engineering software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
  • Bachelor's in Mining, Civil, Environmental Engineering, Project Management, or related field. Master's in Sustainability or Environmental Management is a plus.
