About this role

We are currently working with a reputable oil and gas producer, seeking a Safety Advisor for a 12 month contract, supporting rig operations on-site. This will be a 14x14 rotation, with the site located in Cold Lake, AB. Please note that there is no LOA or camp available, so candidates must be living locally or willing to travel to site.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and update safety standards, instructions, and codes, formalizing them into company-documented practices as needed.
  • Review designs for new projects and upgrades of existing facilities to ensure compliance with company and industry safety standards.
  • Respond to emergency situations and incidents on-site during or after regular working hours, providing technical assistance and advice as required.
  • Participate in creating and promoting on-site safety educational programs to address safety issues or concerns. Responsibilities may include preparing articles for publication, developing promotional materials, and delivering presentations.
  • Mentor other loss prevention professionals.

Requirements

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's or master's degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in construction safety-related positions, including prior experience in the oil & gas industry.
  • Previous rig experience is an asset.
  • Extensive knowledge of security processes and procedures.
  • Proficient in using computer programs such as PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Microsoft Office.
  • Prior experience working in multicultural/multilingual, emerging nation environments required.
  • Proven ability to deliver excellence in SSHE (Safety, Security, Health, and Environmental) performance on projects.
  • Ability to build and maintain successful internal and external relationships with a strong emphasis on team collaboration.
  • Must be physically fit for a construction field environment, including working on uneven, unpaved surfaces, large structures accessible only via ladders or stairs, and performing tasks such as standing, climbing, bending, walking, and reaching.
  • Capability to work in harsh environments with temperature and/or humidity extremes, remote locations with limited amenities, and changing priorities.
