Introduction

We are currently looking for an HSE Coordinator to support our mining client based in Sudbury, Ontario. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with HSE codes and legislation, promoting a culture of safety, and implementing effective health, safety, and environmental programs within both above-ground and underground mining operations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with HSE policies and procedures and with local, provincial, and federal regulations.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with HSE standards.
  • Support contractors with development of JSAs, PHRs etc.
  • Evaluate safety components for tender submittals. Provide HSE training and support to all employees, ensuring that safety practices are understood and followed.
  • Investigate and report on incidents, accidents, and near-misses, recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Collaborate with management and field staff to promote a proactive safety culture and address any HSE concerns.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to HSE activities, including training logs, inspection reports, and incident reports.
  • Utilize web-based HSE software and applications to track and manage HSE data.
  • Participate in HSE meetings and committees, providing input and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Stay current with industry best practices and legislative changes, ensuring that the organization remains compliant and up to date.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of emergency response plans and procedures.
  • Participate in daily contractors planning meetings.
  • Participate in weekly contractor's progress
  • Participate in Incidents investigations

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 or more years of experience in a similar HSE role ideally within the mining industry
  • Experience in project (mining, constructions).
  • Strong understanding of HSE codes and legislation, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical, site-based setting.
  • Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., CRSP, CHSC). Considered an
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with both field and management staff.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to proactive prevention of potential incidents.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, contributing to a collaborative and safety-focused work environment.
  • Flexible schedule 5-2 but could change depending on business needs (project) open to Rotational.
  • Underground mining experience
  • Ontario Common Core modules.
