Introduction

  • The “Lead of Advanced NDE Systems” shall provide professional expertise engineering support services in advanced NDE Techniques inclusive but not limited to: Automated Ultrasonic Testing (AUT): Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) Time of Flight Diffraction (TOFD) and general NDE techniques.
  • As an SME within the Compression Shared Resources Group, the Lead of Advanced NDE Systems provides professional expertise and management for governance and code compliance covering Mill Manufacturing, Structural Fabrication, Spool Fabrication and Pipeline Installations.
  • Communication and influencing of various organizations in a multi-cultural environment.
  • High visibility to Project Management Team(s) and Contractor(s). Recognizes that errors have significant impact on external stakeholders

About this role

  • SME input in relation to NDE / material related Specification Deviation requests (SDRs) and Technical Queries (TQs).
  • Technical support for the development and review of Compression Shared Resource developed and issued ITTs.
  • Review and ensuring NDE technical requirement, specification compliance and code compliance is specified with contract AGREEMENTS.
  • Implementation and verification of NDE validation program(s) in accordance with code compliance.
  • Develop and implement a NDE Cross-checking and validation program across the current and future Compression projects.
  • Overall review of Plate & Pipe mill manufacturers and Contractor(s) NDE program and planned schedule to ensure overall schedule is not compromised.
  • Provide technical support for inspection auditing and cross-checking programs.
  • Perform SME technical support for identification of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) inclusive of Leading Indicator(s) (LIs) for early identification of issues and investigation.
  • Facilitate and support failure investigations and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Ensure consistent review across Compression Project Contractors, Specifications, Procedures, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) activities inclusive of scan plans verifying full compliance is being delivered.
  • Approval and continuous assessment of Contractor(s) key level II & Level III personnel.
  • Assessment and approval of Third-Party subcontractors.
  • Lessons Learned process to continuously capture quality learnings from project activities and to use them to develop and optimize process or specification improvements.
  • Support and input to Project Issues and Risks Management to ensure that quality related issues and risks are captured and treated promptly and effectively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline Mechanical Engineering or materials
  • International recognized qualifications such as
  • ISO 9712 level 3 MUT: PAUT: ToFD: ISO level 2 in AUT data analysis. PCN Level 3 Ultrasonics and Radiography
  • Have knowledge of ISO and (or) API Q1 quality audit program and able to participate / perform / lead quality audits/assessments.
  • Detailed in depth knowledge of DNVGL standard ST-F101 Submarine Pipeline systems.
  • Detailed knowledge of AUT system qualification and project validations, acceptance criteria & ECA’s.
  • Minimum of 12 years broad practical experience as an NDE specialist with extensive experience of AUT/PAUT inspection of CRA (UNS N08825 & NO 6625) clad piping, pipelines, and fittings, including at least 8 years as client AUT representative within Plate and pipe mill manufacturing facilities.
  • Significant experienced as Client AUT representative with Pipe laying projects.
  • Considerations and requirements for the manufacturing of CRA clad components and subsequent fit up and Dimensional Control.
  • Detailed knowledge of current advanced PAUT/TOFD & Automated Ultrasonic Testing (AUT) systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal English language communication skills.
  • Ability to manage development and implementation of Safety Management Systems adapted to Oil & Gas industry.
  • Requires strong analytical, organizational, and planning skills.
  • Creative problem-solving solution orientated.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to influence decisions using presentation, negotiation, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to interact with project management team and Contractors confidently.
  • High awareness of safe working practices associated with design, construction and installation of onshore and offshore pipelines and facilities
