Introduction

Brunel has partnered with a reputable mining company that is expanding its Geotechnical Engineering team. We're currently seeking experienced Geotechnical Engineers for multiple opportunities across Australia. If you're looking for technically diverse projects, the chance to make a real impact in tailings and mine infrastructure, and a pathway for career growth, we'd love to hear from you.

About this role

  • Lead or support geotechnical assessments for active and closed tailings storage facilities (TSFs), waste dumps, and other mine infrastructure.
  • Provide geotechnical input into design, risk assessments, slope stability analysis, dam safety reviews, and ongoing performance monitoring.
  • Liaise with site-based teams, clients, and regulatory bodies to deliver geotechnically sound, compliant solutions.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including hydrology, civil, environmental, and construction specialists.
  • Participate in project management activities such as budgeting, reporting, proposal writing, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Contribute to or lead technical reviews, innovation in practice, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Is this you?

  • A degree in Geotechnical, Civil, or Mining Engineering, with a strong focus on soil mechanics and geotechnical principles.
  • 5+ years' experience in geotechnical engineering, ideally in tailings, dams, or mine infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with applicable standards and guidelines (ANCOLD, CDA, etc.), and risk management practices in tailings engineering.
  • Competence with geotechnical analysis tools (e.g. Slide, GeoStudio, FLAC, PLAXIS, or similar).
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills.
  • A mindset focused on safety, integrity, collaboration, and sustainable outcomes.
  • Leadership experience or aspirations to step into technical leadership, mentoring, or team development are highly valued.

What we offer

  • Work across multiple mining locations in Australia, with flexible work options.
  • Contribute to some of the most technically complex and safety-critical projects in the sector.
  • Be considered for both technical specialist and project leadership roles as they arise.
  • Grow within a supportive, values-driven environment that rewards collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
  • Enjoy access to mentoring, technical development, wellbeing programs, and genuine work-life balance.
