Brunel is proud to partner with a leading mining business to recruit an Environmental Compliance Specialist. This role will be instrumental in ensuring regulatory compliance and environmental standards are upheld across major mining infrastructure projects

About this role

With a hybrid working arrangement of approximately 70% site-based and 30% Perth-based, this position offers a dynamic and hands-on opportunity to make a significant impact in environmental compliance within the mining sector.

  • Validate the compliance register, ensuring all obligations are correctly captured and risk-ranked
  • Assign and communicate compliance obligations to appropriate personnel, ensuring clear accountability.
  • Conduct audits and verification processes to assess compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Develop evidence capture processes for obligation compliance to facilitate seamless statutory reporting.
  • Establish implementation plans and timelines to ensure obligations are met within required deadlines.
  • Communicate compliance status and programs internally, identifying potential exposures and outlining action plans to mitigate risks.

Is this you?

  • Substantial experience, ideally more than 10 years, preferably within the mining or related sectors.
  • High school diploma or equivalent educational background.
  • Experience in environmental compliance within the mining, construction, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations and obligations within Western Australia.
  • Ability to develop and manage compliance tracking systems and reporting frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise with internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
  • Previous experience in auditing and verification processes is highly desirable.
  • In order to be successful in this role you will need to have a sound understanding of the Mining Act and WA Environmental legislation
  • You must have current right to work in Australia to be considered for this role
