Study the contractual scope of site work, applicable specification and standards, application, electrical scheme drawings and interface engineering. Prepare site test procedure and test formats taking into consideration the manufacturer recommendations and applicable standard. Plan and schedule testing and commissioning activities. Identify and arrange test equipment needed to carry out the task. Verify the availability of required documentation (specifications, scheme drawings, etc…) Prepare relay setting calculation if required for small jobs. Proceed with the testing and commissioning of the equipment and its interface with other equipment in line with the test procedure and agreement reached with the customer. Issue the documentation of the test results duly validated by the individual and the customer. Issue the certification of the installation for energization and operation. Investigate reported malfunction and implement curative action / initiate corrective action. Co-ordinate with customer for outage requirement, entry gate pass, work permit, etc… Verify application of all safety rules and good maintenance of test and measuring instruments and tools, and implement the corrections needed. Report on progress and completion of jobs. Control all related documentation (Procedure, test reports, as built drawings) Performing test of protection relays and substation electrical HV/LV equipment. Testing of vacuum reclosers, pad mounted step-up transformers, instrument transformers (PT/CT), surge arresters, switchboard, grounding system, and relay protection systems. Ensures the performance of all field testing on substation equipment is completed accurately and safely. Develop and execute substation equipment test procedures. Provide technical instruction, mentoring, guidance with regard to substation systems and electrical power systems to field testing technicians. Develop testing & commissioning departmental and project requirements. Ensure compliance of testing QA/QC process.
