Introduction

The Principal Water and Wastewater Engineer will assist the team in the completion of concept designs, assurance of design and delivery of water supply, water treatment, wastewater treatment and wastewater discharge.

What are you going to do 

Responsibilities:

* Providing Subject Matter Expertise and technical guidance to effectively deliver water engineering assessments for a range of studies to meet business objectives.

* Assisting with design of water treatment/ water reuse structures, specifically reverse osmosis systems.

* Participate in the design and provide analysis of options for water treatment processes, wastewater handling, management, treatment and discharge/disposal including:

o Analysing and summarising water and wastewater quality data
o o Developing and reviewing mass balances, PFDs and P&IDso Chemical dosing systems
o Unit process sizing and development of specifications for water and wastewater treatment equipment

* Prepare design reports, technical specifications, documents summarizing recommendations and work performed to a high standard.

* Developing water management strategies and review water management plans across the lifecycle of a wide range of local and international projects.

* Providing advice and information to the Project team on water treatment issues that influence design, construction, and maintenance, of engineered structures including water supply assessments, water balance modelling, water quality and wastewater assessments and other related water management studies.

* Develop and review water quality sampling and testing programmes to inform treatment design and water supply studies.

* Managing and liaising with a range of project stakeholders including construction engineers, consultants, utility providers, vendors, manufacturers, local councils and authorities.

* Collaborating with consultants and reviewing water management plans, water management systems and water balance models.

* Contractor, vendor and manufacturer liaison during feasibility, detailed design, execution and construction phases.

* Ensure company standards, regular requirements and approval/permitting requirements are appropriately incorporated into the design.

* Achieve and maintain effective communication with the project delivery team, and other internal and external stakeholders at all times.

Essential skills and knowledge 

Qualifications:

* Tertiary qualifications in Chemical, Environmental or Mechanical Engineering.

* Licensed Professional Engineer
* 15+ years' experience in water engineering design from feasibility studies, engineering, construction and commissioning.

* Detailed knowledge of chemical water treatment and wastewater treatment to participate in design development and review (desalination experience is highly desirable).

* Demonstrated experience with water treatment process design, mass balances, equipment selection and sizing, water system planning and infrastructure design.

* Experience in desalination facilities and/or ultra pure water production facilities preferred.

* Excellent attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skill.

* A strong capability in adapting to multidisciplinary requirements in particular communicating a range of water and wastewater treatment concepts to a wide range of stakeholders.

* Knowledge of Australian regulations and awareness of international standards related to water and wastewater treatment, handling and discharge is highly desirable.

* Strong data management and manipulation skills, with excellent computer literacy skills.
