Introduction

Are you an experienced and qualified Permitting Officer with a passion for safety and efficient project execution? Our client is seeking highly skilled Permitting Officers to join the Collie Battery Energy Storage System (CBESS) Project team on a 2-week on, 1-week off roster. You'll be at the forefront of the commissioning and isolation procedures, ensuring a smooth and safe progression of the CBESS 1 project.

What are you going to do 

As the Permitting Officer, you will play a critical role in the execution of the Commissioning Isolation and Permit to Work Procedures for the commissioning stages of the CBESS project. You will also be responsible for reviewing the Boundary Isolation procedure to ensure compliance with safety and project standards.

  • Review isolation and permitting documentation based on KBESS 2 and the Future Energy Major Project Delivery Standard.
  • Develop lock-out and tag-out procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Identify, plan, and execute permitting and isolation verification activities, implementing switching programs.
  • Raise, hold, administer, transfer, and cancel Isolation Permits as needed.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Trade qualifications in the Electrical industry or Electrical and Instrumentation experience
  • Previous experience developing project isolation and permitting systems
  • Ability to manage contractors' day-to-day permit issuing requirements.
  • Experience in developing Boundary Isolation procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills for interfacing with internal and external project stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to tackle demanding project environments and resolve issues with upper management.
  • A commitment to ensuring a safe work environment.
  • Experience with multidisciplined pre-commissioning, commissioning, and completion activities.
  • Previous experience with commissioning large capital projects, particularly in HV and LV isolations.
  • Exposure or experience in the construction/commissioning of BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) or similar projects.
