Introduction

On behalf of our client, a High Profile Oil & Gas Energy Group located in the heart of the Brisbane CBD, Brunel is presently sourcing a Cost Controller for a 12 month contract. You will be responsible for project controls, cost and finance matters.

What are you going to do 

You will provide leadership and direction in all aspects of Project Controls, Cost Management and Performance Monitoring.

Working closely with the Project Controls Lead, you will be responsible for:

  • Provide expert technical advice and guidance to ensure a consistent approach to cost management is achieved and where required, leads the development of documents, processes and tools to support the Project
  • You will engage with each contracted organisation to ensure timely and accurate progress / cost reporting is provided to allow identification and management of emerging trends / issues within each contractor's project
  • Subject matter expert and primary contact for all Cost Control matters
  • Develop project detailed budgets from TIC estimates
  • Manage the project input into the periodic budget processes
  • Ensure financial compliance with Company contractual obligations in relation to the project (accruals integrity, cash calling, budget approvals, reporting
  • Maintain commercial awareness of contract packages through understanding of awarded work scope, payment terms, commercial conditions, potential variations, project strategies and interfaces with other contracts

Essential skills and knowledge 

Requirements

  • Bachelor in Engineering, Project Management, Accounting/Commerce or related discipline
  • Familiarity with Project Controls software including cost control and scheduling packages
  • Demonstrated track record in the successful completion of project controls tasks with limited supervision
  • Preparation of capital and operating cost estimates for upstream Oil & Gas facilities
  • In-depth knowledge of project change control and cost forecasting
  • Project control of varied and complex projects
  • In-depth knowledge of differences in performing project controls with different contract types, ie reimbursable cost, unit rate and lump sum)
  • Confident verbal and written communications and high level presentation skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills required to interact with others both above and below in seniority
  • Strong MS Excel skills
  • Extensive experience in Major Capital Project execution
  • Exposure to extractive industries with Oil & Gas experience - desirable
  • Workin in multi-disciplinary teams including experience of managing FEED, EPC, EPCM Contractors in lump sum, unit rate, reimbursable contracting environments
