Introduction

  • Responsible for overseeing Civil/Structural engineering discipline and Contractor in delivery of all aspects of civil/structural design to ensure technical objectives are met within the approved scope, budget and schedule.
  • Ensures technical requirements such as project specifications, data sheets, procedures, etc. developed during fully comply with project requirements.
  • Provide engineering surveillance on civil/structural deliverables and provide clear guidance to the Contractor and facilitate resolution of technical issues to complete civil/structural engineering activities to meet project objectives and milestones.
  • Also, responsible for overseeing the Contractor in delivery of all aspects of HVAC design, including Pre-Commissioning, Commissioning & Completions activities, within the approved scope, budget, and schedule.
  • During execution, the position is responsible for verifying the design and implementation of Civil/structural/HVAC work
  • Major challenges for this role are (1) effectively managing Contractor to deliver technical input in accordance with project requirements (2) maintaining constructive working relationships with Contractor, its sub-contractors and vendors to ensure delivery of work scope in accordance with project requirements and (3) maintaining relationships with stakeholders (e.g., Operations and SHE and Quality) to ensure overall alignment.

What are you going to do 

  • Provide Civil/Structural/HVAC engineering knowledge, design, quality assurance and leadership to drive the execution of engineering deliverables in accordance with project specifications and to the execution schedule.
  • Manage Contractor's Structural and HVAC activities including usage of appropriate design tools, including computer hardware and software; adherence with all project objectives, requirements, specifications, standards, procedures, execution plans and design verification processes.
  • Manage the review of Civil/Structural and HVAC detailed deliverables in support of fabrication, construction and commissioning activities, working closely with area managers to deliver to project milestones.
  • Lead the preparation and stewardship of engineering, construction and commissioning scope of work in contract.
  • Supports contractor counterparts, to provide clarity and direction to complete quality deliverables on time.
  • Provide leadership to drive decisions for issues to progress the execution of the project. Drive alignment and decision making between stakeholder groups
  • Communicate Civil/Structural and HVAC performance through monthly engineering surveillance reports with the appropriate metrics and KPIs
  • Clear understanding of change management process and lead team to document and manage risks associated with design change
  • Apply and capture lessons learned related to Civil/Structural/HVAC engineering activities.
  • Understand interdisciplinary dependencies to be able to make judgements on overall technical decisions having multi-discipline impacts. Communicate key technical issues and risks to management to facilitate decision-making.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • 8 years’ experience in EPC projects, in civil/structural/HVAC discipline including detailed design and construction phases.
  • Preferably experience in Oil & Gas Facilities, especially LNG facilities and or large utilities systems.
  • Knowledge in geotechnical, foundations design, drainage, precast concrete, steel structures.
  • Demonstrable experience with HVAC control systems, airflow, refrigeration and chilled water commissioning
  • Experience and understanding of HVAC interfacing systems and controls, including Fire and Gas Systems
  • Excellent written and oral English skills.
  • Strong communication and team-working skills. Strong organizational, planning, management and coordination skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software programs, Lotus Notes, etc
