Introduction

We are looking for an experienced Subcontract Manager to oversee the management of subcontracts for FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) projects within the oil and gas industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for negotiating, administering, and managing contracts with subcontractors, ensuring compliance with project requirements, budget constraints, and timelines.

What are you going to do 

  • Subcontract Negotiation and Management:

    • Lead the negotiation and drafting of subcontracts with suppliers, vendors, and service providers for FPSO projects.
    • Ensure that all contractual agreements align with company policies, legal standards, and project requirements.
    • Administer and manage the lifecycle of subcontracts, from award to close-out, ensuring compliance with agreed terms.
    • Conduct risk assessments and implement risk mitigation strategies in subcontract agreements.
  • Vendor and Subcontractor Relations:

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
    • Act as the primary point of contact between subcontractors and internal teams, including procurement, engineering, and project management.
    • Address any performance, compliance, or contractual issues that may arise during the execution of the project.
  • Cost Control and Budget Management:

    • Monitor subcontract costs, ensuring alignment with project budgets and cost control objectives.
    • Review and approve subcontractor invoices, ensuring that payments are made in accordance with contract terms.
    • Identify and address any variations or claims, ensuring they are resolved in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Contract Compliance and Risk Management:

    • Ensure that subcontractors comply with all project specifications, regulatory requirements, and health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.
    • Oversee the execution of subcontracts, ensuring alignment with project schedules and milestones.
    • Develop and implement risk management plans, identifying and addressing potential subcontractor risks.
    • Coordinate audits and ensure documentation compliance for internal and external reporting.
  • Coordination with Project Teams:

    • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to ensure seamless integration of subcontracted services into overall project execution.
    • Participate in project planning and scheduling activities to ensure subcontractor activities are aligned with project timelines.
    • Provide regular updates and reports to management on the status of subcontractor performance, costs, and compliance.
  • Claims Management and Dispute Resolution:

    • Handle subcontractor claims, including delay claims, cost overruns, and scope changes, ensuring they are managed in accordance with contractual terms.
    • Resolve disputes with subcontractors in a timely and professional manner, mitigating potential legal risks and delays.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Bachelor's degree in Contract Management, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in subcontract management, ideally within the oil and gas sector, with specific experience in FPSO or offshore projects.
  • Strong understanding of contract law, procurement, and subcontract management practices within the oil and gas industry.
  • Proven experience in negotiating and administering high-value and complex subcontracts.
  • Familiarity with FPSO operations, offshore regulations, and international standards.
  • Proficiency in contract management software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong analytical and organizational abilities, with attention to detail.
