Introduction

We are currently hiring a Mechanical Equipment Engineer for our nuclear client in Peterborough, ON. You will be responsible for the design of mechanical equipment and systems for CANDU reactors. Projects will involve you in the design, development and test of mechanical equipment for automated and semi-automated fueling machines, robotic systems, and maintenance tooling for CANDU reactors and related systems. This can be either a full-time permanent or contract opportunity.

Essential skills and knowledge

A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering.
Holds or working towards a current PEO license.
Typically requires 3 years' experience in design engineering in Nuclear, Aerospace, Transportation, or other highly regulated and process-based design.
Demonstrated ability with supporting leadership on complex and general engineering projects over their complete EPC life cycles.
Demonstrable experience with project schedules, working within budgets, financial metrics and other project management methodologies.
Exposure with a broad range of interdisciplinary activities; systems design, requirements development, interface design, manufacturing and testing.
Exposure to a broad range of interdisciplinary departments: systems, I&C, software design and manufacturing.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, understandable by a diverse audience.
Creative problem-solving skills, outstanding analytical abilities, developing leadership skills and the ability to work in a team
Flexibility to work remotely on short-term customer site assignment.

Experience with 3D CAD software (preference for Inventor/SolidWorks) and FEA software (ANSYS).
Experience in the CANDU Nuclear Industry
Familiarity with CSA Nuclear Codes and Standards
Familiarity with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes and Standards
