Introduction

Our client is an open, innovative and dynamic employer where sustainability is high on the agenda. They are already a green hydrogen producer and have firm plans on the agenda for electrifying the plants and reusing waste streams. For this role, they are looking for someone who can easily adapt to their environment, dares to ask questions and has good organisational skills.

What are you going to do

The role involves ensuring security by applying and adhering to all safety rules while complying with legal and company regulations. You will ensure that employees are aware of and promote safety behaviors. Key responsibilities include scheduling turnarounds, projects, and small pit stops, which encompasses preparing milestone schedules and developing multidisciplinary execution plans that integrate contractor schedules.

You will organize and lead interactive planning sessions to align disciplines, identify and analyze critical paths, and proactively monitor progress throughout projects or turnarounds, escalating deviations as necessary. You are able to prepare progress reports addressing critical paths and changes, managing turnarounds with budgets under €5 million and lead times of one to six weeks, as well as projects ranging from €5,000 to €1 million and pit stops lasting over three days or involving high complexity.

Continuous improvement is a significant focus, requiring the integration of new applications for project preparation, standardization of processes, and knowledge of current technology and developments in the field. You will also be responsible for people management, advising on the appropriate mix of skills for technicians, interpreting relevant KPI dashboards for the Planning & Scheduling department, and advising on necessary internal resources.

Essential skills and knowledge

The ideal candidate demonstrates a high level of responsibility, taking ownership of results and acting accordingly. Strong communication skills are essential, with an ability to convey information effectively in both verbal and written forms. This role requires resilience under pressure, a flexible approach beyond a "9 to 5" mentality, and the ability to manage busy periods and unexpected challenges.

Key skills include:

  • Proactive problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities.
  • Experience with (or willingness to learn) planning software such as SAP, Maintask, or Primavera P6.
  • An openness to give and receive feedback constructively.
  • Teamwork, with a collaborative approach across departments.
  • Accuracy, fact-based decision-making, and a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Respect for, and adherence to, established procedures and rules.

Education and Experience

  • BSc level or equivalent through work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in Projects and Turnarounds within the refinery or chemical industry.
  • Proven functional experience in Turnarounds (under €5 million) and/or Projects (over €1 million).
  • Possession of a VCA-VOL certificate, or a willingness to obtain one.
  • Dutch speaking is a must.
