Introduction

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Energy Analyst to join Australia's largest energy infrastructure business on a permanent, full-time basis in Brisbane, QLD.

About this role

This role is critical in managing gas supply, transportation, storage, and power purchase agreements to support a diverse portfolio of conventional and renewable energy assets. Working within a fast-paced power commercial operations team, you will be responsible for daily execution of contractual and regulatory obligations, as well as optimising energy management strategies.

  • Oversee daily gas management, including nominations for Gas Transportation Agreements (GTAs) and Gas Supply Agreements (GSAs).
  • Ensure contractual and regulatory compliance across power generation assets.
  • Optimise gas transportation and supply nominations to reduce variable costs.
  • Develop and maintain forecasting models for power station demand, gas usage, solar, and wind production.
  • Monitor market conditions, including price fluctuations, demand shifts, and weather impacts.
  • Provide commercial and contract management support, ensuring accurate execution of agreements.
  • Assist in developing and enhancing systems and processes to manage APA's power purchase and gas agreements.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring smooth operations and market alignment.

Is this you?

  • Proven experience in trading, commercial operations, and contract management within the energy sector.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assimilate and interpret complex data.
  • Tertiary qualification in Business, Law, Economics, Engineering, Commerce, Finance, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to work shift hours, including weekends and public holidays, supporting power asset operations.
  • Commercially focused, with the ability to identify and capitalise on market opportunities.
  • Exceptional communication skills to engage with key stakeholders across multiple divisions.
