This role requires FIFO from Perth, based in the Pilbara region. We offer a competitive compensation package commensurate with your experience level and an 8/6 days roster.

About this role

Reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist, you will be responsible for providing quality geology services and working collaboratively with the broader Mining Team to maximise return from the operation.

  • Monitoring safety compliance in the field alongside the daily supervision of Reverse Circulation drill rigs and management of drilling campaigns
  • High quality logging of RC chips whilst ensuring sample quality on the rigs
  • Drawing on experience to help drive innovation within the team whilst fostering a positive safety culture within the Resource Definition team through visible field leadership and adherence to Fortescue policies and procedures
  • Comply with Fortescue site specific HSES and OH&S policies, work instructions, procedures and reporting protocols
  • Review and update these documents on a regular basis

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in Geology
  • Ability to obtain a full Western Australian Driver's Licence
  • Ability to consistently pass drug and alcohol testing
  • Current national police clearance, issued within the last 6 months
  • Previous experience working in a rural environment will be highly regarded
  • Self-learner, proactive in seeking opportunities for process improvement and innovation within a dynamic team environment
  • Effective communication, time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience managing drill rigs with an understanding of iron ore minerology and experience logging iron ore
  • Ability to take initiative, work autonomously, and as part of a team to achieve project milestones
  • High understanding and awareness of occupational health and safety practices
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and zero harm principles
