Introduction

Brunel has partnered with a leading industrial operation in North Queensland to find a skilled Asset Reliability Engineer. In this critical role, you will ensure the reliability and efficiency of non-structural assets, playing a pivotal part in the long-term operational success of a major facility. This is your opportunity to provide technical advice, optimizing maintenance strategies, and ensuring seamless operations across large-scale equipment.

About this role

  • Maintenance Strategy Optimization: Review, improve, and implement maintenance strategies for non-structural assets to optimize reliability for their entire life cycle.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Lead investigations into asset failures and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Reliability Improvement: Identify risks and proactively mitigate them to improve asset reliability and performance across the site.
  • Data & KPI Monitoring: Track and report asset reliability KPIs, improving data integrity and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Collaboration: Work with engineering, planning, and operations teams to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Risk Assessments & Compliance: Lead risk assessments for new and existing assets to ensure operational safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Capital Projects Support: Provide technical advice during design reviews and capital projects, ensuring reliability is built into new systems and upgrades.

Is this you?

  • Degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience in reliability engineering (ideally within heavy industry, mining, or port operations).
  • Expertise in asset management systems and maintenance strategy development (familiarity with ISO55001 is highly desirable).
  • Hands-on experience with reliability tools such as RCM, RCA, FMECA, RBD, and Weibull.
  • Strong leadership skills with a focus on safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams to optimize asset reliability and performance.
  • Willingness to relocate to the Bowen/Mackay region for a site-based role.
