Introduction

We are seeking an experienced Project Accountant to manage financial aspects of a large scale road restoration project in the New England Region of NSW. This role reports directly to the Contracts/Commercial Manager and will play a crucial part in the financial oversight and reporting of this significant infrastructure project.

About this role

  • Project Accounting: Prepare, review, analyse, and report on monthly project forecasts.
  • Accounts Payable Oversight: Ensure accurate and timely processing of accounts payable related to the project.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with key stakeholders including funding bodies, contractors, and government agencies.
  • Procurement Compliance: Ensure procurement processes align with relevant legislation and procurement Framework.
  • Safety Leadership: Promote a culture prioritising health and safety for staff, contractors, and the community.
  • Systems Development: Lead or support the implementation of financial system upgrades, particularly within TechnologyOne.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare reconciliations and reports, including compliance reporting and earned value methodology (EVM).
  • System Support: Troubleshoot and resolve issues in financial systems impacting project functions, and provide training to team members.
  • Internal Relationships: Foster strong relationships to promote coordinated financial management within the project.

Requirements

  • Qualifications: Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: Proven experience in project accounting, preferably in large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of Local Government Accounting Standards and the Local Government Act.
    • Proficiency in TechnologyOne or similar financial systems.
    • Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and reforecasting.
    • Ability to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

What we offer 

  • Salary: Competitive base salary of $160,000 - $180,000, plus superannuation.
  • Contract: 4-year fixed term with potential for extension.
