Introduction

Manage and coordinate the Plan Review Team, providing technical and engineering expertise during design development and plan review at shipbuilding locations. Participate in design discussions, manage plan approvals, and oversee vendor selection. Address technical issues during construction and plan approval for LNG vessels. Ensure technical work meets schedules, objectives, and budget, while allocating resources to maintain progress and meet project deadlines.

About this role

  • Accountabilities Key Accountabilities: Provide technical expertise in the areas of hull structural design, hull arrangements, hull outfitting, and general design areas involving proven naval architectural skills.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact in the engineering team in these areas during the design development phases of the various newbuilding programs.
  • Supervise various contract technical personnel that may be assigned specific design development and/or plan review tasks in his area of expertise. Assist in vendor review, approval, and selection for major items of equipment falling in his area of expertise.
  • Identify any special issues that may be of significance to the Engineering Lead and the Project Management Team (PMT) as may be applicable.
  • Identify cost changes and design changes that may improve the vessel's design to the Engineering Lead and Team Leader(s) for consideration for approval.
  • Coordinate efforts with the other members of the engineering team as required. Coordinate efforts with the terminal and Ship-Shore Interface personnel as required.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Naval Architecture, with 12+ years of experience in designing and constructing large vessels, including 5+ years with LNG carriers. They must be familiar with international maritime regulations, classification societies, and the LNG transportation industry. Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential, along with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for preparing reports and presentations.
