Introduction

Manage technical aspects of multiple ship construction programs at various shipbuilding locations. Lead all phases of ship design and construction, including detail design, plan review, vendor selection, and construction oversight. Oversee equipment shop tests, vessel trials, and deliveries. Manage interactions with shipbuilders and control the project administration budget for shipbuilding sites. Ensure the project meets technical requirements, schedules, and budget constraints.

About this role

  • Manage all design development tasks and plan approval efforts with the Engineering Support Lead/manager to ensure all technical work is completed in a satisfactory manner within the scheduled timeframe.
  • Support those members of the Core Plan Review Team, as may be required, in matters concerning the design development and plan approval efforts, as well as vendor selection for all vessels designed and constructed at the relevant shipyard(s).
  • Establish a field staff at the newbuilding site.
  • Prepare and manage the project administration budget. including the office budget and site budget, for the work being carried out at with this shipbuilder.
  • Prepare regular management reports to the Shipbuilding Director, including a summary of key events during the current reporting period, forecasts of events to come in the next reporting period, budgetary analysis and projections, schedule adherence, and mention of any special issues that are of significance.
  • Endorse cost changes and proposes all design changes to Shipping Project Director for approval.
  • Coordinate efforts with the Project Management Team (PMT) as may be required.
  • Coordinate efforts with the terminal and Ship-Shore Interface personnel as may be required.
  • Act to ensure that all efforts meet the shipowner's vision, mission, and objectives.
  • Act to ensure that shipowner's SHES policies are fully implemented and adhered to.
  • Attend, as required, sea and gas trials.
  • Coordinate schedules and work steps to bring each vessel into service at delivery.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture or Electrical/Marine Engineering, or a Chief Engineer's License, with a minimum of 12 years in the oil and gas industry, focusing on large vessels, including LNG carriers. They must possess comprehensive knowledge of ship and terminal operations and the LNG transportation industry. Essential skills include managing ship design and construction phases, overseeing budgets, and vendor selection. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills are required. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, adherence to SHEQ policies, and experience with sea and gas trials are also crucial.
