Job Description: Commissioning Start-Up, Mechanical Lead

Location: Point Celeste, Louisiana

Contract Type: Long-term, multi-year contract

Our Client, a leading organization in the LNG sector, is seeking a skilled Commissioning Start-Up, Mechanical Lead to oversee mechanical systems commissioning and start-up activities. This role is integral to ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely delivery of operational readiness for the facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the commissioning and start-up efforts for mechanical systems, ensuring adherence to project schedules, safety protocols, and operational goals.
  • Oversee the mechanical scope of work, including equipment installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and performance testing.
  • Collaborate with construction, operations, and engineering teams to ensure seamless project handovers.
  • Develop and implement start-up strategies, including detailed plans for testing, troubleshooting, and system integration.
  • Conduct daily field walkdowns to monitor progress, identify potential issues, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of mechanical commissioning teams, contractors, and vendors.
  • Ensure the implementation of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, work permits, and other safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records of commissioning progress, punch lists, and documentation for system turnover.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on commissioning status to stakeholders.

Is this you?

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical commissioning and start-up, in LNG, petrochemical, or gas processing facilities.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including rotating and static equipment, piping, and associated controls.
  • Proven experience in pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities for large industrial facilities.
  • Familiarity with process safety management principles and simultaneous operations (SIMOPS).
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and best practices for mechanical systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and computerized management systems.
  • TWIC card preferred but not required.
