BIM Specialist (commonly known as BIM Manager) is responsible for coordinating efforts between BIM team member and other project stakeholders.
The main responsibility is to direct the BIM strategy and workflows, establish procedures, create BIM training programs, troubleshoot obstacles, identify opportunities for increased efficiencies, direct the roll-out projects, and stay up to date on developments in the BIM technological landscape and strategically introduce upgrades, when necessary, in coordination with the corporate BIM strategy.
Manage and overlook BIM delivery for Project(s) within the Department
Manage key stakeholder interfaces to ensure successful delivery of various outcomes across the Project(s) and Program
Establish project controls and reporting and ensure timely delivery of Project(s) to time, cost, and quality
Provide leadership to BIM Coordinators and BIM Technicians within the Department
Drive the implementation of BIM standards within the Department to ensure compliance with international best practices.
About this role
Ensure inclusion of BIM requirements in tender documents and communicate the requirements to the supply chain and relevant stakeholders
Conduct BIM capability assessment in each tender and evaluate tender submissions to ensure compliance with Employers Information Requirements
Provide advice to senior staff in relation to the incorporation of BIM in the department on complex matters
Develop, lead, and assist project teams in BIM project setup
Develop and deliver, both internally and in conjunction with supply chain structured BIM models for Programs / Projects
Plan project BIM deliverables and manage their effective delivery in accordance with the Project Schedule and BIM Execution Plan (BEP)
Manage the development of BIM Objects for the corporate library in coordination with the Engineering Services Department
Provide guidance and assistance with design projects to ensure they are setup and progress optimally
Develop and establish SLAs and KPIs to monitor and report BIM implementation within the Department
Develop procedures to facilitate sharing of content and knowledge throughout the organization
Keep abreast of the latest trends and technologies in the BIM environment
A “rounded profile”, comfortable with planning, analysis and managing process (the successful candidate will also be able to mobilize people and teams and by their leadership skills lead teams and secure successful deliverables)
Demonstrable expertise in management, analysis, and simulation of information models, within the project delivery and asset operation lifecycle
Is this you?
University degree from a recognized university in an appropriate field such as Engineering, Architecture or Construction Management or equivalent
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Minimum of 14 years post graduate experience in major civil engineering projects including at least 5 years recent experience of working on buildings and/or infrastructure (roads, drainage) projects
Minimum of 7 years of experience in BIM projects and software (e.g., Revit/ Civil3D/ Navisworks) of which a minimum of 5 years should be where they have been responsible for BIM implementation on buildings and/or infrastructure (roads, drainage) projects
Master’s degree in a relevant field
Arabic language skills
Driver’s License
Experience of working in Qatar and / or the Gulf region
In-depth knowledge of BIM standards and procedures with good understanding of integration from/ to BIM with other applications
Expertise in clash detection and coordination of all services per design standards
Experience of using information models for measurement, construction scheduling, and cost management
Advanced skills in software supporting the creation, analysis, simulation e.g., Autodesk Civil 3D, Revit, Navisworks
Knowledge in software for automation of routines to support standards and improve productivity like Synchro, CATO / Cost X, Solibri, Infraworks, Dynamo is desirable
Ability to configure and maintain the project Common Data Environment to enable the effective management of engineering design deliverables
Knowledge of COBie specification and ability to export files from models
Knowledge of international standards, such as ISO 19650, and related standards
Familiarity with internationally recognized classification systems (e.g., Uniclass, MasterFormat)
Knowledge of 3D rendering, and visualization is desirable
