Key Responsibilities

Data Analysis and Insights

  • Extract, analyse, and interpret complex data sets to provide actionable insights that drive business decisions.
  • Utilise data visualisation tools to present findings in a clear and impactful manner, ensuring stakeholders understand the insights and their implications.

AI and Machine Learning

  • Develop, implement, and optimise machine learning models and AI solutions, ensuring they are robust, scalable, aligned with business objectives and delivering value.
  • Apply principles of AI and data ethics to ensure solutions are ethical, safe, and explainable.

Strategic Planning and Emerging Technologies

  • Monitor emerging technology trends and assess their potential impact on current and future data science projects.

Business Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for business process improvement through data-driven insights and recommend actionable solutions.
  • Support change implementation planning and management to ensure smooth transitions and minimal disruption to operations.

Technical Development and Programming

  • Develop and maintain software solutions using best practices in programming and software development.
  • Conduct rigorous testing to ensure the quality and reliability of data science models and solutions.
  • Support solution architecture and systems design efforts to ensure data science solutions are integrated effectively within the enterprise architecture.
  • Ensure all data science activities adhere to information security standards and best practices, protecting sensitive data and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.

Data Management and Engineering

  • Manage and maintain data management processes, ensuring data integrity, security, and accessibility.
  • Support data engineering efforts to build and optimise data pipelines and infrastructure.

Requirements Management

  • Gather and validate requirements for data science projects, ensuring they align with business needs and objectives.
  • Research and Innovation
  • Conduct formal research to explore new methodologies, tools, and techniques that can enhance data science capabilities.

Knowledge Management

  • Contribute to knowledge management by documenting methodologies, processes, and insights, ensuring they are accessible and usable by the team.
  • Develop and apply measurement frameworks to evaluate the performance and impact of data science initiatives.
  • Support team members, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.

Is this you?

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, mathematics, statistics, machine learning, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years in data science and AI solution system development- Preferably in mining, energy, green energy, or heavy industrial operations.

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding and practical experience in statistics and machine learning, including causal inference and experimental design.
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and machine learning frameworks (e.g TensorFlow, PyTorch)
  • Background in AI/ML techniques, including NLP (traditional and LLMs), computer vision and predictive analytics.
  • Experience in platforms such as Snowflake, S3 and Databricks/SageMaker
  • Familiar with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure (beneficial).
  • Experience with software development industry best practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both multi-disciplinary product teams and to non-technical stakeholders
